This document outlines Electrical Contractors’ Association’s adherence to the applicable statutes and regulations governing online activities in South Africa.
1. Electronic Communications and Transactions
In compliance with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), Electrical Contractors’ Association confirms:
- Electronic contracts formed through our website are legally binding.
- Electronic signatures, including acceptance via clicks, passwords, or PINs, are recognized as valid.
- Consumers will receive clear information regarding online transactions, including confirmation of orders and records of agreements.
2. Protection of Personal Information
Electrical Contractors’ Association fully complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA):

Adhering to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), Electrical Contractors’ Association ensures:

- Ethical marketing practices free from misleading or deceptive claims.
- Customers may cancel transactions conducted via direct marketing within a seven-day cooling-off period without penalty.
4. Credit Transactions
If Electrical Contractors’ Association offers credit or payment plans, we comply with the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (NCA):
- Transparent disclosure of all credit terms, including interest rates, fees, repayment schedules, and total costs.
- Conducting affordability assessments to prevent reckless lending and consumer over-indebtedness.
- Customers have the right to rescind credit agreements within five business days from signing.
5. Cybersecurity
To protect against cyber threats:
- We implement industry-standard security measures, including secure servers, encryption, firewalls, and continuous vulnerability assessments.
- In the event of a cyber incident, we commit to prompt reporting to relevant authorities, including the South African Information Regulator and Cybersecurity Hub, and notify affected parties as legally required.
